I decided to try Picasa Web Albums since I am a Mac user and it has an iPhoto plug-in. Also can be used with Windows. Downloaded and installed the plug-in and it was a snap to export photos from iPhoto to Picasa. Looks like it has many features that are similar to other photo-sharing sites.
I uploaded some family photos and shared them.
At the fall MEMO Conference, Bloomington media specialists shared an activity where students took pictures during spring break of people reading - they had different categories and had pictures ranging from reading with Joe Mauer to a whole planeload of people reading. I think it would be great fun to do this in school and share the photos that are submitted through our media center web page.
We have had discussions at school to "approve" some photo sharing sites to be used within school and allowed by the filter. I'm working at home and interested in seeing which photo sites are available within our district network.
